How We Generate Content
Section titled “How We Generate Content”Every MechDatum technical reference page is built through a consistent research and verification process, not from a single source.
1. Consulting Multiple Technical Sources
Section titled “1. Consulting Multiple Technical Sources”For each topic, several recognized technical sources are consulted: manufacturer catalogs, industry standards (ASTM, SAE, DIN, EN, ISO), and established engineering references. The goal is to avoid relying on a single data origin.
2. Cross-Verification
Section titled “2. Cross-Verification”Every published numerical value is checked against at least one additional source before being included in the page. When multiple sources agree on a value, that is the data presented.
3. Standardized Structure
Section titled “3. Standardized Structure”Each content category (materials, manufacturing processes, tolerances, etc.) follows a fixed section structure, making information easy to compare across pages and quick to locate.
4. Metric and Imperial Units
Section titled “4. Metric and Imperial Units”Numerical values are presented in both unit systems (metric and imperial) to make the content usable regardless of the reader’s working standard.
5. Updates
Section titled “5. Updates”Content may be updated when outdated data, new applicable standards, or corrections reported by the engineering community using the site are identified. The last updated date is shown on each page.
Limitations
Section titled “Limitations”Information published on MechDatum is for general reference. For critical design, manufacturing, or regulatory compliance applications, always verify against the current official standard, the specific material or process manufacturer, and/or your own project testing.
